Self-assessment

Is AI right
for my business?

Not every business is ready for AI — and not every problem needs it. This page will help you think honestly about whether AI is likely to add value in your business, and if so, where to look first.

// Quick assessment — tick everything that applies

Go through the checklist below and tick the statements that are genuinely true for your business. Be honest — this is for your benefit, not ours. The more you tick, the stronger the case for exploring AI.

We have tasks that repeat on a daily or weekly basis
Data entry, reporting, scheduling, invoicing, chasing — anything that happens regularly and follows a pattern.
Manual errors cost us time or money to fix
Mistakes in orders, invoices, reports, or data that have to be caught and corrected.
We struggle to get useful insight from our data
Data sits in spreadsheets or systems that are hard to interrogate. Decisions are made on gut feel more often than they should be.
Our team spends time on low-value admin
Capable people doing work that doesn't really need them — because there's no other way to get it done.
We handle a high volume of similar customer enquiries
Tracking, status updates, FAQs, appointment requests — things that follow predictable patterns.
We find it hard to scale output without scaling headcount
Growth means hiring. More customers means more staff to service them. The model doesn't improve with scale.
We produce regular documents, reports, or communications that follow a template
Weekly reports, client updates, proposals, invoices — anything produced repeatedly from the same structure.
We have processes that involve moving data between systems manually
Copy-pasting between spreadsheets, systems, or platforms. Information that doesn't flow automatically.
Leadership has appetite to invest in improving the way we operate
AI projects need buy-in to succeed. If the business is resistant to change, even the best opportunity won't land.
We have at least one process where inefficiency is causing a real, visible problem
A clear, felt pain point — not a vague desire to be more efficient. The best AI projects solve specific problems.

// Honesty matters

AI isn't the
answer to everything.

We'd rather tell you early that AI isn't the right fit than take you through a full engagement and deliver something that doesn't make a real difference. If the Discover process reveals that a simpler process change, a better spreadsheet, or a different tool would solve the problem — we'll say so.

  • The process is too bespoke or judgment-heavy to automate reliably
  • The problem is actually a people or management issue, not a process one
  • A simpler fix — a better system, a clearer SOP — would solve it faster and cheaper
  • The volume or frequency of the task doesn't justify the investment
  • The data needed to train or power an AI tool simply doesn't exist yet
